Petron Corporation through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, Petron Foundation (PFI), has partnered with the local government of Limay to construct a pedestrian bridge in line with the oil company’s mission to promote safer communities.
Today, April 13, Petron Refinery Vice President Allister Go and Mia Delos Reyes of Petron Foundation turned over the check to the Limay LGU through Mayor Nelson David and other local officials.
The project, which will be known as the Limay Pedestrian Bridge, is a reinforced concrete bridge spanning 82 meters at 6.30 meters wide, along the By-Pass Road Project that would cover Barangay Luz up to Barangay San Francisco de Asis.
Petron will fund its construction, while the LGU will be responsible for providing the land and construction resources, ensuring the project’s feasibility and safety, engaging the required technical team, and monitoring the over-all progress and implementation.
As the leading oil company in the Philippines, Petron takes to heart its role in nation building. Playing out this responsibility begins right at home – in the municipality of Limay, where the Filipino-owned oil company operates the country’s only remaining refinery. The Petron Bataan Refinery (PBR) has evolved to meet the growing energy needs of the nation by refining crude oil into a full range of petroleum products.
“Petron is not just a business entity in Bataan. As a resident of Limay for over half a century, the company is already an integral part of the province, helping encourage economic growth, generating employment, and this time, fueling safety in the community. We hope for this project to make a positive impact once it is completed,” Petron President and CEO Ramon Ang said.
The success of Petron’s CSR programs is a result of its collaborative efforts with the LGU and other local partners. Over the years, Petron has remained deeply committed to helping Bataeños, especially those from underprivileged sectors, build the foundations for a better life through its programs on education, environment, health, entrepreneurship and livelihood.
Petron’s support to these causes is a part of its bigger commitment to the sustainable development of Limay and the entire province of Bataan.
